For The Hambrough Restaurant
What menu’s do you have?
We offer an a la carte menu at £60 per person and the Surprise Tasting at £85 per person. From 12pm to 1:30pm we serve a Lunch Menu from £24 per person or 3 course’s for £29 with a selection of seasonal dishes you can choose from.
How far in advance are bookings taken?
We take reservations at any time. Our office is open 9am to 6pm all week should you wish to make a reservation.
What happens after the table is booked?
All reservations will need to be guaranteed with a credit card. Once a reservation has been made, our Reservations Team will then email a confirmation letter with the terms and conditions and details of your booking. Nothing will be charged to the card and details are only taken to secure the booking.
What is the dress code for the Restaurant?
Smart Casual, no sports wear please.
Opening and Closing Times for the restaurant?
The restaurant is open Tuesday to Saturday each week. Serving Lunch from 12pm – 1:30pm and Dinner from 7pm to 9:30pm.
Can you cater for dietary requirements?
We can cater for all dietary requirements with prior notice. The menu is adapted according to each individual guest’s requirements. We would ask that you advise our reservations team of any dietary requirements when making a booking so advanced notice can be given to the kitchen.
Can you arrange something special for a birthday/anniversary?
We can offer our Private Dining experience for small parties, our events team can assist you all the way. Alternatively our Pastry Chef can make you and your guests a special Birthday Cake for up to 4 people at £25 (Larger cakes can also be catered for).
Do you sell Gift Vouchers?
Customised Gift Vouchers are available and can be tailored to each, individual requirements.
Where can you park?
Unfortunately we do not have our own parking space however, if spaces are available you can park right outside The Hambrough, alternatively there are other street parking spaces right near by. Please ask our reservations team for more information.
Are Children allowed in the restaurant?
Children are welcome in the restaurant, we can provide highchairs if needed. We politely ask that your children are well behaved and do not disrupt the other guests.
Do you have a children’s menu?
We do not have a children’s menu available at the restaurant however, our head chef will do his utmost to adapt and accommodate to the childs requirements based on their tastes.
Do we have access for wheelchairs and bathroom facilities for wheelchair users?
Unfortunately we do not have access for wheelchairs at this time however, we are currently working on improving this facility.
For The Pond Cafe Restaurant
What do you serve?
The Pond Cafe serves modern european dishes. Open from 10am serving breakfast right up until 9:30pm when there is a full A’La Carte Menu on offer.
How far in advance are bookings taken?
You can book a table at any time by calling 01983 855666. Guests who wish to have Sunday Lunch are advised to book up to a week in advance to ensure availability.
What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly ask that should you wish to cancel your booking, you do so 24 hours in advance.
What is the dress code for the Restaurant?
We do not have a dress code policy at the restaurant. Please come along whatever you feel comfortable in.
What are your Opening and Closing times for the restaurant?
The restaurant is open 7 days a week. Serving Breakfast, Teas and Coffees from 10am. Lunch from 12pm – 2:00pm. Afternoon light bites from 2pm to 5pm. Dinner from 6pm to 10:00pm.
Can you cater for dietary requirements?
All dietary requirements can be catered for with prior notice.

Do you have parking?
Unfortunately we do not have our own car park however, you can park right outside The Pond Cafe on Bonchurch Village Road if spaces are available.

Access is limited for wheelchair users. Please advise our reservations team prior to your arrival and we will do our utmost to plan for your visit.
What are the different rooms available?
We have 7 boutique rooms at The Hambrough with one optional twin room (Room 3). Rooms 1 & 2 are Studio Suites with balconies overlooking the sea where you can enjoy breakfast in the morning or drink champagne as the sun sets. Rooms 4 & 5 are luxury rooms offering spectacular views of the sea with plenty of lounge space to relax. Room 4 benefits from a large bath overlooking the sea. Rooms 3 & 7 are executive rooms offering views of the Sea and St Boniface Downs with lounge areas to relax. Room 6 is our cosy deluxe room with views of St Boniface Downs.
We also have a 5 bedroom self-catering house, Villa Lavinia. Perfect for week long holidays for large groups or families with food at the heart. Everything is designed with cooking in mind. There are 4 double rooms and one twin with access to cots and high chairs. There is a large lounge area to relax and play games.
What are the different seasons?
Our tariffs operate seasonally.
Low Season – November, December, January, February
Mid Season – March, April, May, October
High Season – June, July, August, September
We are bringing children, what are the best rooms?
The Hambrough welcomes families. The best rooms would be Rooms 1 and 2 which benefit from large spaces and fold out sofa beds. (Please note Rooms 1 and 2 can sleep up to 4 people) Room 3 is a twin room and could be used to accommodate children should you wish to have separate rooms. Room 5 is the only other room with a fold-out sofa bed which can also sleep up to 4 people (2 Adults, 2 Children).
Alternatively, you can book the Villa Lavinia for plenty of space and a child friendly space. Perfect for trips to the beach.

Do you take American Express?
Unfortunately we do not take American Express and apologise for the inconvenience.
What time can I check in?
From 14:00 on the day of arrival and 16:00 for Villa Lavinia.
When do I need to check out?
Up to 11:00am for Hambrough Rooms and up to 10am for Villa Lavinia.
Can I store my luggage?
Sometimes our guests arrive early and we are more than happy to store your luggage until check in time. This gives you freedom to walk around the town or pop down to the beach maybe even grab a spot of lunch at The Pond Café in the nearby village of Bonchurch.
Where can you park?
Unfortunately we do not have our own car park however, there is free parking on Hambrough Rd or just outside The Hambrough if spaces are available. Alternatively, you can park on the seafront in the public car parks or please ask our reservations team for more information.
What is your cancellation policy?
7 days or less prior to arrival, we will charge 50% of the room rate if we are unable to re-let the room
24 hours prior to arrival, we will charge 90% of the room rate if we are unable to re-let the room
We will take 100% of the total room rate should a cancellation be made on the day of arrival or not at all.
Villa Lavinia Terms & Conditions
Are there any charges for extra people in the room?
Our rooms prices are based on 2 people therefore any extra people are subject to supplements.
Children under 3 are FREE
Children over 3 and up to 10 – £15 per person, per night
Anyone 10 years and above – £30 per person, per night
Do you accept pets?
Unfortunately The Hambrough does not accept pets however, our Villa Apartment accepts small, well behaved dogs.
Can I bring my own wine to my room?
A corkage charge will be added to your bill for any wine or champagne which has not been purchased from our own list. The current charges are £15 wine, £25 champagne. (These charges do not apply on Sundays & Mondays)
How can I change my booking?
Changes are permitted up to 48 hours to your arrival subject to availability. Please advise us by calling 01983 856333 or email reservations@robert-thompson.com
How do I get to the hotel by public transport?
We are located on the sea front in Ventnor. You can connect from any Ferry terminal to the Newport bus station by any of the Southern Vectis Buses available, then you must proceed to the number 3 or 6 bus to Ventnor. This will take you into the high street right outside Boots. Head to the esplanade and before you get to the Winter Gardens turn right into Hambrough Road, we are just on the left. Alternatively, we can arrange a taxi for you with prior notice.
Are there any Wifi Facilities?
We have Free Wifi available in all rooms and the Villa Lavinia.
Where is Breakfast served?
Breakfast is served in the restaurant from 8am to 10am. There is a continental buffet and fully cooked breakfast of your choice. Alternatively, you can order breakfast in the room and our team will be more than happy to accommodate your request.
