Robert becomes Ambassador for the Isle of Wight

ROBERT THOMPSON HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED AS THE ISLE OF WIGHT’S FIRST AMBASSADOR

A NEW tourism body for the Isle of Wight was officially launched today announcing Chef Patron Robert Thompson of The Hambrough as the Island’s first Ambassador alongside Radio One DJ, curator of the Bestival Rob Da Bank and Rob Drake-Knight of Eco-Clothing brand Rapanui

Newly appointed Visit Isle Of Wight chief executive David Thornton, a former head of marketing for Visit Peak District and Derbyshire, said: “We will announce a list of immediate actions to ensure that the Isle of Wight stands out as a must-see place to visit in 2013 and beyond.” The announcement of Robert Thompson as an ambassador for the Island showcases some of the very best of what the Isle of Wight has to offer in order to attract more visitors for the future.

Robert was amongst other high profile guests such as Isle of Wight Festival organiser John Giddings at the launch held at Osborne House Thursday 15th November – the new home to Isle of Wight Tourism.

The Ambassador role will see Robert flying the flag for the Island across the country and internationally as the new tourism board sets an agenda to establish the Island as a top European destination over the next five years.

“I am honoured to be an ambassador for the Isle of Wight. I love the Island we have fantastic produce, amazing surroundings and so much to offer. I know I can really play a part in making the Island a serious food destination.”
