Technology in the Kitchen

In an article from The Sun back in 2011 Robert talks about technology in the kitchen and how it changes the way we cook:

The iPad is perfect for the kitchen – small and compact but still able to display fantastic photos and recipes.

The amount of information available means you can literally find out about any ingredient or recipe and then follow step by step instructions – the sheer amount of cookery books needed to equal the amount of choice on an iPad means it’s a no brainer!

Technology should make things easier not more difficult. It’s pointless using something that stresses you out. Make sure you know how to use it and choose apps carefully. Cooking should be fun and enjoyable, not stressful!’

Find a good app like the Great British Chefs app that is very clear and straightforward.

Another contributor to the article was Chef Nathan Outlaw who explains:

“It’s difficult to fiddle with technology and try to cook at the same time so if you have a voice recognition option, use it! Otherwise, use technology for reference before starting to cook.’

“The beauty of using technology is that you can access so much information and so many recipes without having to flick through piles of books. You can also take it all with you if you are food shopping or cooking away from home.

“An added bonus is that you can listen to your favourite music whilst cooking – perfect!’
